Recount Text

Recount text is a kind of text to tells the reader a past event or experience in a chronological other. That’s why, it ases simple past tense.

The generic structure of Recount Text :
 Orientation
(Who were involved in the story, when, and where)
 Events
(Tell what happened in a chronological order)
 Re-orientation (optional)
(The conclusion of experience)

Three types of Recount Text :
 Imajinative Recount
Imajinative recount is an unreal event or story, like reading texts for language lesson, a story about a life of a slave, ect.
 Factual Recount
Factual recount is a note of an event, such as scientific experiment report, police report, newspaper report, history explanation, ect.
 Personal Recount
Personal recount exposes an event in which the writer or the author got involved or acted in the event himself. Belong to this type among other are daily funny incedents, entries of a daily, ect.
Language Feature :
 The use of nouns and pronouns
(e.g.: David, we, his)
 The use of action verbs
(e.g.: went, spent, played)
 The use of past tenses
(e.g.: We went for a trip to the zoo)
 The use of time conjunctions
(e.g.: and, but, after, finally)
 The use of adverbs and adverbs of phrases
(e.g.: in my house, two days ago, slowly, cheerfully)
 Adjectives
(e.g.: beautiful, sunny)
Example :
Mr. and Mrs Charly were on a tour to Erope.
They were travelling on a guided tour to five countries. They were going to travel through the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France for two weeks.
The guide for the tour was a Swiss. On the first day of the travel the guide told them to check their passports, their traveler cheques and their foreign cash. He told them to keep them safely.
They travelled I a comfortable coach with a toilet, music and video. The guide stopped the coach at many famous places. He explained the cultural imfortance of the places. They stayed in big hotel for the night and ate in the restaurants.
On the way, they stooped at small restaurants to eat lunch. In big towns, they went for shopping. They bought many souvenirs for their friends. They enjoyed the two-week tour.
